CGVC is very excited to now offer our Clientele the MultiRadiance Laser Therapy for your Pet

Multi Radiance Therapeutic Class 1 Laser is a cutting-edge, non-invasive therapeutic option to alleviate pain and promote healing.

This laser therapy uses light energy, which is sent deep into the tissues without causing any damage. This energy is absorbed by the mitochondria (the energy power house) of each cell. This will induce a chemical change called photo-biomodulation, which will increase the production of ATP in each cell. After any injury, surgery, chronic inflammation the ATP production is significantly reduced. ATP is needed to fuel these cells for repair and rejuvenation. Increased ATP production and higher ATP levels creates healthier cells, leading to healthier tissue and improved healing.

Super-pulsed laser treatments are also associated with increased blood flow to the tissues. The MultiRadiance Class 1 Laser also has the strongest blue light energy spectrum that safely kills bacteria. The collective effects of the 3 different red-light wavelengths, and the blue light, allows us to improve the quality of life in many patients with chronic conditions and resistant infections. This laser will help to reduce pain, increase mobility, is beneficial to manage wounds, hot spots, improve the healing of post-surgical incisions, and heal gingivitis. In turn, this leads to a reduction in the amount of medications that are required to keep our patients comfortable.

Compared to the Class 4 traditional lasers, each impulse of the MultiRadiance Super-pulsed Class 1 laser produces high peak power delivered for a very brief duration. It is this high power pulse wave that creates the energy density needed to deliver doses to the target tissue. Even though the pulse wave peaks at a high power level, there are no thermal heat effects in the tissue. By using the Super- pulsed Laser, higher densities of healing light energy will be delivered to improve healing outcomes.

Why laser therapy? Laser therapy is recommended because it is a safe, drug free, side-effect free way to relieve pain and accelerate healing for your pet.

Can it get too hot like Class IV lasers? The Super-Pulsed Laser delivers the light photons deep into the tissues. The pulses durations are so short, nanoseconds, there is no heat sensation. Animals generally become very relaxed. Even black-coated animals tolerate treatments very well.

Are there any side effects or associated risks? Our true super pulsed cold laser has no side effects and very few contraindications – if cancer is present, the laser can not be performed as there is a risk of causing the cancer to grow.

How long does each treatment take? The typical treatment duration is 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the area involved and the condition being treated.

How often should my pet be treated? Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. Most chronic problems respond well when treatments are received 2-3 times per week for three weeks tapering off to once a week, as your pet’s conditions improve.

Meet Brian and Mila

Mila is a 10 year old female spayed Alaskan malamute mix dog. Mila loves to hike, play and especially run in the field with her friends. She injured her cruciate ligaments a couple of years ago. Thankfully, Brian has pet insurance and Mila had a consult with a Boarded Surgeon who performed the needed tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) repair on her knees. However, even though Mila was no longer limping, Brian explained she never fully bounced back to her energetic playful self. She was slow on her walks and needed assistance going up the stairs. At the park, she still never went back to running with her dog friends.

Dr. Wolfe and Brian discussed PRP as a therapeutic option combined with the multi-radiance laser therapy. Brain agreed, and Dr. Wolfe treated both knees for Mila. Brian then followed the post-op care, and soon afterwards they were able to start the laser therapy. Brian came in weekly for the first month, then every other week for 3 months. Brain had slowly started to see small improvements with Mila. She was able to go up and down the stairs again without assistance or hesitation. She was showing interested in going for her walks again.

On Remembrance Day, Brian took Mila to the park to meet up with some of her friends. That day, Brian received a surprise – Brian was delighted to see Mila running, bouncing and playing with her dog friends again! Please see the video of Mila enjoying full play time again.
